#CC16 Pte Esko Makela 1CPB D-DAY Grouping
Original WWII Private Esko Makela 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion grouping. Pte Makela completed his paratrooper course at Ringway, England, and then joined the 6th Airborne Division as part of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. Pte Makela was in B Coy, 5 Platoon when he parachuted into Normandy France on June 6, 1944 / D-day. He also fought at the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes) and parachuted into Germany during Op Varsity.  Only a handful of these men participated in all the major battles. The studio portrait picture is a signed copy. All the badges, canvas pouch, and wristwatch were worn and used by the veteran on D-day. Extremely rare attributed group, it’s getting very hard to find original D-Day groupings. Scarce. $2950

Original WWII First Special Service Force Type 3 Patch. The "Type 3" variation appears mid to late 1943. Lightly worn and possibly removed from a veteran's photo album. This example has the requisite amount of "snow" white thread to the bobbin embroidery to guarantee it is a nice wartime manufactured example. Original WWII super early British Airborne wing with black background produced and worn during the earliest days of Airborne training at Ringway, England in 1941. These were produced by the RAF working with the Army prior to the Army completely taking over Airborne training. This rare version would have been produced only for about the first month of Airborne training and they are extremely rare. Great example with starch back, no mothing, staining, or damage. We purchased these from an advanced Airborne collector and have had these confirmed in hand by a well known author of Airborne insignia. Very rare pair of early wings. $325

Original WWII grouping of Flight Lieutenant I.B. Jackson (DFC).  Group includes F/Lieut Jackson's Flying Officer's shoulder boards that he is shown holding when he sold them to a collector in the 1990's, an original RCAF stationary calendar blotter for 1944-1945, a photo copy of his telegraph showing he earned the distinguished flying cross, two original photos from the 1990's when he sold this group to a collector, and a photo copy of his extensive flight log which includes many missions over enemy territory from late 1944 to the end of the war in 1945. Looking at this flight records, F/Lieut Jackson was incredibly lucky to survive the war and this small grouping is a testament to his good fortune and bravery. This is a humble grouping but your chance to own something worn by a Lancaster Bomber Pilot with provenance for an affordable price, great research project. $95

Original WWII "Yellow" epaulette slip on for members of 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion. These yellow slips on were to distinguish the wearer as a soldier of a Canadian unit, these were worn by members of 1 Can Para on D-Day and operations in North West Europe. These were worn on the epaulette of the battle dress tunic and also the Denison smock. This is a textbook original example of this mega rare insignia item, these are heavily faked and originals such as this one reside in only the most advanced collections, very few originals ever come to market. First Special Service Force Type 4 Arrow Head
WWII 1st Special Service Force Type 4 Patch. This variation first appears as the Devil's Brigade makes preparations to land on the Hyeres Islands off the Southern coast of France in August 1944. It is a scarcer version of the patch which oddly does not adhere to the published design being a different shape of spearhead. This example has the requisite amount of "snow" white thread to the bobbin embroidery to guarantee it's wartime manufacture. Attached are some shots of FSSF soldiers clearly showing the unique shape. The first photo was taken in Southern France, and based on research by advanced collectors this variation does not appear until that time. *Sold*

Original WWII Canadian airborne jump wings. This variation is the mid-war (late 1943) Type 1 Canadian Parachute Badge. These wings were collector purchased from the veteran, and are attributed to to Sergeant Darrel Harris. Sgt Harris was an early member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, he was trained as a parachute instructor at Fort Benning, Georgia and instructed at the S-14 Canadian Parachute School/A-35 Canadian Parachute Training Center at Shilo, Manitoba throughout the war.
