GERMANY WWII HEADGEAR

#G2246 M40 Normandy Chunky Spray Camouflage Helmet
Original WWII German Heer / SS M40 chunky spray pattern "Normandy camouflage" combat helmet. This camouflage helmet is symbolic of the fighting in the Normandy hedgerows with olive green and red brown colours over a standard base coat of chunky dark yellow which has worn through in areas such as the front brim. This standard wear on the front brim is from the soldier's hands putting on and taking the helmet off of his head. The owners name is both painted into the rear skirt and also written on the leather liner, the name suggest this soldier was of Czech origin which is interesting. The base helmet is M40 with original liner, pins, and good original chinstrap. The liner has never been removed and only one pin is a bit loose, all pins still have original washers in place. Marked "EF64" (Maker: Emaillerwerke A.G. / Fulda, Size 64) and faint lot number "363". This is a true "been there" example worn in combat and sent home from the battlefield as a souvenir, there are no flaws and it has not been touched or messed with in any way after the war. A great camouflage combat helmet. $3475 *On Hold*

#G2247 M42 Helmet "Killed by Alpin and Charles"
Original WWII German M42 no decal Heer or SS combat helmet "Killed by Alpin and Charles". This veteran art helmet is not for the faint of heart, it is a grim reminder of the horrors of WWII. The soldiers who captured this helmet decorated it with a swastika and reminder of who did it "Killed by Alpin and Charles troops". The helmet is in untouched condition and never cleaned, some of the liner tongues have rotten. Part of the chinstrap is still present, with the small section missing but the long section still intact. This is a real "been there" helmet most likely taken from a dead enemy and kept by the soldiers who got him. A very interesting historical piece. $1650 *On Hold*

#G2248 M35 Heer Re-Issue Helmet Size 60
Original WWII German Heer (Army) re-issue helmet in size 60. Size 60 is the smallest size factory produced German helmet during WWII, it was issued to small soldier's and Hitler Youth pushed into service which was common near the end of the war and the final battle for Berlin. The liner is correct for size 60, being marked as 53cm, the only size where the liner has seven tongues instead of the standard eight. The helmet is originally an M35 with separate air vents and rolled edge, it later went through arsenal where it was re-painted, re-fitted, and given a single Heer decal. The helmet is marked "SE60" representing maker Sächsische emailler und stanzwerke A.G. / Lauter and lot number "3249" which according to lot number research suggest it was originally produced in 1937. The helmet appears unissued since it went through arsenal, or perhaps worn very lightly near the end the war.  The chinstrap is complete and we left it as is since it seems completely undisturbed having just sat on a shelf for the last 75+ years since being brought home from the war as a souvenir. Nice untouched top condition helmet. $1400

Heer / SS Late War No Decal M42 Helmet EF64
Original WWII unissued Heer or SS late war no decal M42 helmet manufactured by EF (Emaillerwerke A.G. Fulda) in size 64.  Breakdown of markings: 'EF' represents the maker, which is Emaillerwerke A.G. Fulda.  '64' represents the size.  '4891' represents the lot number of approximate 1943-1944 manufacturing based on current known information.  Consulting the excellent lot number database on GHW2, this helmet is consistent with other no decal M42's in this range produced by this maker.   The helmet was purchased from the famous RonR collection and is completely untouched.  One of Ron's photos is shown, the helmet was discussed positively on GHW2.  The liner has never been removed and all the pins are still super tight with original washers in place.  The original helmet string and chinstrap are original to the helmet and never removed or touched.  The condition of the late war quality painted steel is excellent, the factory original paint is very strong with a few minor scratches from storage or from being shipped to the USA as a souvenir from the war. These late war helmets were popular souvenirs of the period, attached is a photo of USAF personal looting a box car full of them to mail home to friends and family.  This late war M42 is exactly how it should be and is in top condition, it would be extremely tough to upgrade! *Sold*

#SB1 Kriegsmarine M42 Helmet in Shipboard Grey
Original WWII Kriegsmarine M42 helmet painted ‘shipboard grey’.  Consignor reports this helmet was found in trash bin in Bagenkop, Denmark, on the island of Langeland north of Kiel, Germany.  The helmet is presented on the shipboard grey discussion thread on GHW2.  There are clear markings on the top of the helmet that indicate that it likely sat in a shipboard helmet rack, as shown in period photos.  Metal on metal scouring is visible on the top probably from the vibration of the ship or boat. Langeland is an island near Kiel that had a heavy KM presence during the war, in addition to land radar installations, there was a ship repair yard and an E-boat base. Several sunken E-boats are still in the waters off of Bagenkop, where this helmet was found.  The colour is consistent with the fog grey camouflage of many of E-boats. The chinstrap is unmarked but has paint residue from the helmet. The paint is a kind of marine gloss finish, with what appears to be exposure to salt air and sea water. Another interesting and rare helmet variation that rarely comes around with positive discussion on GHW2. *Sold*

#RG22 National Socialist Motor Corps NSKK M40 Helmet
Original WWII National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) M40 Helmet.  As with all original NSKK helmets, this one started life as a Luftwaffe issue helmet. The base helmet is a model M40 ET66 lot number 59.  The helmet was original wartime repainted and reissued for service in the NSKK.  All known true original NSKK helmets were re-issued from Luftwaffe stocks, as they oversaw supply to the NSKK.  The reissue consisted of a grey-blue repaint that went over the existing Luftwaffe decal, which is still partially visible under the paint in the right angle and I have tried to show it in the photos. The helmet was originally sold by Giorgio at Italian War Front many years ago.  This exact helmet was then previously posted on GHW2 where it received all positive reviews in 2008, please follow the link at the bottom of this listing to see that discussion.  A very desirable true original NSKK helmet in service used condition, a rare helmet that will be a worthy addition to any WWII collection. $3800 *On Layaway*

#G2229 Heer M35 Double Decal Helmet
Original WWII German Heer (Army) M35 combat helmet, gritty field camouflage paint with outline of former rubber camouflage band symbolic of the Eastern Front. The gritty camouflage paint goes around the original factory double decals, covering the bottom edge of the tri-colour shield, it's uncommon to find any camouflage helmet with both decals still intact, as the arsenals and soldiers typically painted over them. The outline of the former rubber band goes all the way around the helmet, it has even worn down the decals where it rested. The base helmet is M35 with original liner, tight pins, and good original chinstrap we have not removed from the brim (this is how we received it). Marked "Q66" (Maker: Quist, Esslingen. Size 66) and lot number "3481". The chinstrap is also faintly maker marked. This is a unique "been there" combat helmet with lots of character. *Sold*
